Through the Ethiopian Project on Interlinking Insurance and Credit for Agriculture (EPIICA) a collaboration between researchers, the Ethiopian Economics Association, largest Ethiopian insurance company, and largest Ethiopian private-sector bank. The purpose of the project is to test the impacts of rainfall insurance at one of the most drought-exposed farming populations in the world. In addition, the purpose of the collaboration is to understand the extent to which interlinking credit and insurance can unlock demand for inputs in smallholder agriculture.
