Presentation: Collaboration between the public and private sectors for agricultural risk management: An example of Ecuador

There are parallel efforts from the public and private sectors to protect farmers in programs or pilot efforts throughout Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador. However, while both private and public efforts have been adopting the use of index insurance, there has been little coordination for their implementation. This presentation will explore the advantages of coordinating index insurance efforts.

This presentation is based on AMA Innovation Lab projects for the Public-private Partnerships for Agricultural Insurance event. This meeting gathered the policy, regulatory, financial services and research communities together to discuss risk transfer innovations and their applications in the Pan-Andrean region.

This presentation took place in Lima, Peru on July 11, 2011.
