Presentation: Towards Evidence-based and Data-informed Policies and Practice: the case of the Index-based Livestock Insurance (IBLI) in Kenya and Ethiopia

There are over 50 million pastoralists in Sub-Saharan Africa, 20 million of which are in the Horn of Africa.  Inside the Horn of Africa, exports of livestock and livestock products exceed $1 billion annually.  90 percent of which is from pastoral flock. Livestock and livestock product exports provide an estimated amount of 40 percent of the livestock economy.

This presentation is based on the AMA Innovation Lab projects for the Evidence to Action: Towards Data-informed Policy and Practice in East Africa. The purpose of the conference meeting is to promote evidence from rigorous impact evaluations and research to encourage increased uptake and utilization of research and innovation to influence policy and drive change at the national, regional, and global levels.
