Food aid flows have been falling steadily despite food insecurity largely unchanging worldwide. Donors and operational agencies have increasingly explored cash transfers as an alternative. The result has been demand and supply side pressures for increased flexibility in programming options.
This presentation is related to the AMA Innovation Lab projects for the Microfinance Products for Weather Risk Management in Developing Countries. This workshop approaches the efforts and difficulties of pursuing index-based weather insurance as a sustainable market-based product.
