Jane Kabubo-Mariara is an integral member of the international scientific community and a thought-leader in development economics, having authored multiple journal papers, books, monographs, and policy briefs. Her research specialties interests include the impact of climate change on agriculture and adaptation, environmental and natural resource economics, multidimensional poverty, child poverty and youth employment, and labor markets and income distribution.
Kabubo-Mariara is a professor of economics at the University of Nairobi, where she served as the Director of the School of Economics from 2010 to 2016. Currently, she is a member of Central Bank of Kenya’s Monetary Policy Committee and the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) Advisory Board, among others. She has previously served in various corporate and scientific advisory roles within local, regional and international circles. Kabubo-Mariara holds a Ph.D. and Masters degrees in economics from the University of Nairobi.
