Outlook Magazine Features AMA Innovation Lab Research on Hope
Outlook Magazine, a publication of the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, published a story on research in behavioral economics by AMA Innovation Lab director Michael Carter and principal investigator Travis Lybbert for its Summer 2019 issue.
Carter and Lybbert study hope and other psychological assets that help determine a person's likelihood of poverty over time. Increasing hope and other psychological assets help a person to make the most of their situation, whether that means working harder or taking productive risks.
"Hope alone won't solve global poverty," said Carter. "But other interventions may be more successful if they recognize the vital role that hope can play."
