UC Davis News Features New Project to Help Kenya's Rural Poor

On February 27, 2017, UC Davis News featured a new AMA Innovation Lab project that use a randomized, controlled trial to evaluate the impacts of combining programs that offer training, support and aid with affordable insurance to reduce chronic poverty. The story also describes the context for the project, including the impact of Kenya's drought, which affects 1.3 million Kenyans, the government of Kenya announced last year, as well as payouts from the Kenya Livestock Insurance Program (KLIP), which is based on work by Michael Carter and AMA Innovation Lab research affiliates.
