On July 12, 2018, the Next Billion blog featured AMA Innovation Lab research in Kenya to evaluate index-based livestock insurance paired with The BOMA Project poverty graduation program. The study in Samburu County, Kenya, focuses on women in pastoral households who face a significant risk of drought. The BOMA Project provides women skills training and an asset transfer to start a business. The index insurance product designed by the AMA Innovation Lab provides a means for women to hold onto their gains despite suffering losses due to drought.
