The Feed the Future Horticulture Innovation Lab at UC Davis featured highlights from an Oct. 17, 2016 event that featured talks from the directors of all five UC Davis Feed the Future Innovation Labs, as well as Robert Bertram, chief Scientist in USAID's Bureau for Food Security.

AMA Innovation Lab director Michael Carter, a UC Davis professor of agricultural and resource economics, discussed specific challenges of drought in Kenya and some of the interventions he has worked on in the region. "We focus on what it is that prevents people from taking advantage of the opportunities available to them,” he said. “Risk makes people poor and also keeps people poor.”
