On Sept. 11, 2017, the Feed the Future blog featured AMA Innovation Lab research on how bundling drought-tolerant maize and index insurance can deepen the impact of improved seed technologies can have on the livelihoods of poor farmers. The project, led by AMA Innovation Lab director Michael Carter, builds on significant work through the Drought Tolerant Maize for Africa (DTMA) project that has developed and field-tested over 140 improved maize varieties and developing research on index insurance for managing small-scale farmer risk.
