The Economist Cites UC Davis Insurance Quality Initiative QUIIC
On December 13, 2018, The Economist featured the UC Davis index insurance quality initiative QUIIC in an article about agricultural insurance in Africa. QUIIC, the Quality Index Insurance Certification, is led by AMA Innovation Lab director Michael Carter and Robert Hijmans, a professor of environmental science and policy at UC Davis. The article focuses on some of the challenges of using agricultural index insurance for small-scale producers and cites QUIIC as an effort to improve the quality of agricultural insurance across the region.
