Presentation: Evaluating the Socio-Economic Impacts of Western Seed's Hybrid Maize Program

Economic research on improved seed adoption in SSA often treats hybrids as a single homogeneous technology. However, Can seeds developed for the mid-altitude environment improve livelihoods for smallholders? Big seed companies may overlook this market, while local companies can target the missing service. WSC has received social impact investments based on the belief that they can improve lives of smallholders in these agro-ecological zones.

This presentation is based on AMA Innovation Lab projects for the 2013 BASIS/I4 Technical Committee Meeting. This meeting gathered researchers affiliated with the Index Insurance Innovation Initiative (I4) at UC Davis.

This presentation took place in University of California Davis, United States.
